Fall is the Time for Planting

During my many walks with the dogs up and down ENB, I have noticed a number of homes with trees missing in the right of way between the sidewalk and the front yard of our homes. You may or may not be aware that the city is required to plant trees for you if you notify them, which you can do by calling 311 from any phone. Also, here is the city link regarding street trees.

If you don't want to take your chances with the City's choice of trees, I would encourage you to follow the lead of some of your neighbors and plant your own. Why? Trees are one more "protective shield" against any long term widening of the street. The more we can be a uniformly tree-lined street, combined with our pending historic designation, the safer we will be long term. Click here for a list of species that are effective street trees.
